Security Settings

Enhance your account security with two-factor authentication, manage authorized devices, and implement additional protective measures.

Introduction

Securing your account is essential for maintaining privacy and safeguarding your data. This guide will walk you through setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), updating your password, and enabling security questions to fortify your Loxala account.

Key Security Features

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a one-time code in addition to your password. You can select either SMS Code or Google Authenticator, or even enable both for added security.

  1. Enabling and Configuring 2FA
    • Toggle Switch: Use the switch in the 2FA Settings section to enable or disable 2FA.
    • Method Selection: Choose between SMS Code and Google Authenticator, or enable both. If both are enabled, select your primary method for default login.
  2. SMS Code Setup
    • Phone Number Input: Enter your phone number in the international format, including your country code.
    • Verification: Receive a one-time code on your phone. Enter the code within 60 seconds for verification. You may request a new code up to three times if it doesn’t arrive.
    • After Activation: View the verified phone number (partially hidden for privacy), along with an icon and the date and time of activation.
    • Updating Your Number: You’ll be asked to verify your current password to access or change your phone number.
  3. Google Authenticator Setup
    • QR Code Generation: Scan a unique QR code with the Google Authenticator app to link it with your account.
    • Verification Code: Enter the code generated in your app to complete the setup.
    • After Activation: You can view the active 2FA method, your verified phone, and the activation date.

Note: If you change your 2FA settings or mobile number, this will also update in your profile settings for consistency.

Changing Your Password

Regularly updating your password is an important security measure. Follow these steps:

  1. Enter Current Password: Authenticate your identity by entering your current password.
  2. Enter New Password: Choose a strong password containing a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, special characters, and a minimum length of 8 characters.
  3. Confirm New Password: Re-enter the new password to avoid typos.
  4. Save Changes: Click Save Changes to finalize the update. A confirmation prompt will appear; choose Save Changes to proceed.

Tip: Avoid reusing old passwords and ensure your new password is unique.

Security Questions

Security questions provide an additional layer of account protection.

  1. Toggle Switch: Enable or disable security questions in the Security Questions section.
  2. Select Questions: Choose three questions from the list or create your own:
    • Examples include: What is your mother’s maiden name?, What was the make of your first car?, etc.
  3. Set Answers: Provide responses to each selected question.
  4. Validation: Ensure your answers meet minimum criteria and avoid easily guessable entries.
  5. After Activation: The date and time of verification will be displayed, and you’ll need to verify your current password to access or update your answers.
